Landlords and businesses have a duty to prevent harm from electrical equipment in use on their properties. Inspection and testing of electrical equipment is the best way to comply with this obligation. Without a programme of planned electrical equipment inspection, testing and maintenance you could be legally liable for damages resulting from your untested electrical equipment. This covers all electrical equipment that has a plug and is powered by a mains supply.
Examples of such electrical equipment are; Fridges, Freezers, Microwave Ovens, Kettles, Toasters, Washing Machines, Tumble and Condenser Driers, Vacuum Cleaners, Steam Irons, TV’s, Bedside Lamps. The rule of thumb is any electrical equipment that has a plug and is in use on the property.

How often is inspection required?
Each appliance is assigned a Risk Assessment score. The Risk Assessment score of the individual electrical item will determine the frequency of inspection, testing and maintenance of the equipment.
The Risk assessment may mean that electrical equipment that was previously tested on a yearly basis may not have to be tested so frequently. The Risk Assessment may also mean that high risk electrical equipment may have to be inspected and tested more frequently then every year.
Your Insurance company can also advise you on the frequency of inspection and testing of your electrical equipment. Your Insurance could become invalid if you do not have a regular, recorded programme of inspection and testing in place!

We trained in PAT testing over twenty years ago and have been working for such companies as British Red Cross and Stoke on Trent Council up until 2010 when the business was set up.
The business was established based in Liverpool in 2012 where it has grown into a very successful and reputable business. The business Head Office is now in Liverpool and we have grown to be able to cover the North West region.
