WHAT IS ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT INSPECTION TESTING OR PAT TESTING?
PAT Testing(Portable Appliance Testing) is an important program of inspection and testing of your electrical equipment to ensure it is well maintained, fit for purpose and safe to use. PAT Testing is no longer the correct term used regarding the inspection and testing of electrical appliances, the new term of Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment(ITEE) was introduced in September 2020 when the 5th edition of the IET regulations was introduced. The use of the term PAT Testing was removed to simplify the type of appliances that were portable and those that are not. All electrical equipment is now covered under the umbrella of the new definition, Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Who must do the testing?
Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment must be carried out by a competent person or qualified experienced PAT tester. The person carrying out the inspection and testing must use a calibrated PAT testing machine. Details of the inspection and testing are to be logged and kept as proof of the duty holder, Manager or owners compliance to the regulations relating to electrical equipment.
A regular programme of inspection and testing of electrical equipment or PAT testing is an important part of any Health & Safety Policy.

Why do I need Testing?
What if you lost your business or home due to an electrical fire?
What would you do if your insurance proved invalid because you could not produce evidence of your efforts to minimise the risk of Electrical Equipment from becoming faulty?
With this in mind having a regular regime of inspection and testing of your Electrical Equipment is recognised as the best way to comply with your obligations regarding the Health & Safety Regulations. Without it you could find yourself in a very difficult situation if any accident involving Electrical Equipment were to occur.

• All inspection and testing will be in accordance with the IET 5th Edition of The In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
• A price for work must be agreed before work commences and invoices must be paid within the instruction period stated on the invoice.
• Testing of IT Servers and CCTV equipment will only be inspected and tested once it has been fully shut down by the clients IT staff. Pulse Electrics PAT Testing will accept no responsibility for loss of data which may occur during the inspection and testing process.
• We are covered with £1 million of Public Liability Insurance if the Client requires a higher level of insurance they must inform us before any booking is undertaken. We can arrange a higher level of insurance if required for any specific work.
• All our staff are fully insured and DBS checked and proof of these can be emailed to the client before work is to commence.
• We use Seaward Prime Test 50, Prime Test 100 and Seaward Apollo 500 PAT testing equipment to test clients electrical equipment. Our testing equipment is fully Calibrated on a yearly bases by Testermans Limited. Copies of these certificates can be emailed to the client before work commences.

We trained in PAT testing over twenty years ago and have been working for such companies as British Red Cross and Stoke on Trent Council up until 2010 when the business was set up.
The business was established based in Liverpool in 2012 where it has grown into a very successful and reputable business. The business Head Office is now in Liverpool and we have grown to be able to cover the North West region.
